The rear wheel is a hostile environment. You have heat from friction, water, salt, and gravel attacking the internals constantly. If the one-way clutch fails, you lose your kick—or worse, you lose control on a hill.</p> n <p>We refused to use generic, unbranded bearings. The mechanics inside these wheels are delicate; fine wire bands and needle rollers must engage the axle instantly when you push backward. That requires microscopic precision.
